About Us

Our Principles

Freemasonry rests on four basic principles:

Respect: for everyone regardless of their belief, politics, race or religion

Integrity: Being fair and straightforward in how we approach others

Friendship: Members find that they build lifelong friendships through their experience of common values

Service: whether it be through active support of other aspects of the wider community or charitable giving

The Members

The Hope Valley members come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Among our members we have an
Accountant, a Builder, several Engineers, Salesmen, a Photographer, a Horticulturist,
A Pathologist, a Doctor and even an Undertaker! Many either had or have their own business
or were senior members of large and small organisations.
They are a friendly crowd and enjoy good conversation over a meal and a drink. As well as their
individual donations to charity, many give their time to helping in a wide variety of organisations.

Our current Worshipful Master, Chris Herrett, took up his position in
November 2023. Chris has been involved in Freemasonry for nearly 30 years
and was previously Master in 1997, 2010 and 2011.

In joining us you will be sure of a warm welcome and a friendly ear should you need it.
You will be encouraged to take part in our ceremonies and progress on 'the ladder' as and
when you are ready.

Meeting Times:

Hope Valley Lodge No. 3397 meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 6.30pm except in July, August & September.
Our Installation meeting when the newly elected Worshipful Master takes up his duties is is held on the 1st Wednesday in November starting at 4.30pm (subject to confirmation) and is the highlight of our Masonic Year.

Our meetings take place at The Dore Masonic Hall which is situated on Abbeydale Road South, Dore, Sheffield S17 3LA. The entrance to the car park is off Dore Road.

Our Banner:

All Freemasons Lodges have their own individual banners which usually represent local aspects or historical influences of the Lodge during its formation. Our banner has at its centre St. Peters Church Hope. The Lodge banner is displayed at each private Lodge meeting and in past years banners were paraded on Installation at our Provincial Grand Lodge in Derby. Our first banner was purchased at the time of the consecration and this was replaced in 1967. This second banner was replaced during our centenary year by the current banner shown. We have no pictures of the first banner but we believe the second and third banner take the format of the original.
